The Five Levels — your map
Who is driving determines the level. Levels 1–3 you're in the loop. Levels 4–5 you're on the loop.
1
Chat
You ask. It answers.
2
Works with you
Multi-step on real files. You drive.
3
Knows you
Custom GPT, Skill, Memory.
4
Build
Tools you make. The door.
5
Agents
AI runs. You supervise.
The disclosure habit
If a reasonable reader would feel misled to learn AI was involved, you disclose. If it's grammar polish or a brainstorm starter, no need. The test is whether you're hiding the help.
Sample disclosure: "I used Claude to draft a first version of this. The final words and decisions are mine."
Privacy red lines
Never enter into a non-approved (Tier A) tool:
Student names with grades, IEP/504, attendance, discipline, health, family info
Personnel files, evaluations, compensation, medical info
Family financial info, tuition records, financial aid details
Donor records, confidential board materials
Passwords, credentials, security info
