Policy refresh + early-year disclosure routines

45 minutesRotating building
Goal

Every teacher leaves with a written in-class AI disclosure routine they'll post this week, three weeks into the year, while habits are still forming.

Prep (before the room fills)

0:00 — 0:05

Open · where the room is

Do Push the poll: "In the first three weeks, how often have you seen students use AI in your class?" Read the bars aloud.

Say "The policy is set. Today isn't about the policy, it's about the ten-second routine that makes it real in your room."

Watch Keep it factual, not a debate about whether AI belongs. That was the summer session; this is operational.

0:05 — 0:20

Focus · what disclosure actually looks like now

Teach the operational reality, grounded in the one example. Cover, in order:

Do Close the beat on the concrete example: walk the de-identified work and narrate "here's what good disclosure on this looks like, here's how I'd respond."

Watch Don't relitigate the policy. Name any gray area, log it for the working group, move on.

0:20 — 0:35

Hands-on · write your classroom routine (laptops open)

Each teacher writes three short lines for their own subject and grade, straight into the shared doc:

Do After ~10 minutes writing, pairs swap and each asks one sharpening question.

Watch Circulate. Elementary and secondary routines will read differently, that's correct; don't force one template.

0:35 — 0:45

Share-out + commit

Do Three teachers read their routine aloud. Commitment: post it in your room or LMS this week.

Say "Next month is ELA, writing instruction when every student has a ghostwriter in their pocket."

Reconciled with final policy (July 2026): grade-band lines and protected assessments mirror the Student AI Use Policy. The four-part disclosure routine is deliberately one step above the policy floor (the policy requires stating that AI was used and how; naming the tool is our classroom practice, not a policy requirement).
