Do Ask AI for a specific quote from a historical figure or a summary of a primary source; show how it can fabricate a confident, wrong, quotable line. Democracy runs on being able to tell real from fake.

Focus · sources, reasoning, and disinformation

• Where it helps: summarizing background, generating multiple perspectives on an event, and drafting counterarguments to stress-test a claim.
• Where it's dangerous: fabricated quotes and sources, plausible historical disinformation, and baked-in bias, exactly the things a citizen must learn to catch.
• The move: treat AI output as a document to be sourced and corroborated. Compare its account to primary sources; use AI-generated disinformation as a "spot the fake" exercise. This is source analysis, your core skill, applied to a new kind of text.

Hands-on · build a source/disinformation lesson (laptops open)

Each teacher builds one lesson in the shared doc, choosing one:

• Corroborate the AI — students compare an AI summary of an event to two primary sources and identify what it got wrong, omitted, or slanted.
• Spot the fabrication — students receive AI-generated "historical" claims or quotes and must verify each against a real source.
• Analyze the bias — students prompt AI for perspectives on a contested event and analyze whose voices are centered or missing.
